Thus, guests will see both the reflection and the scene behind the glass, with the illusion of a transparent ghost in the room.

The list of needed materials includes a larger piece of glass, light, black fabric or backdrop and optionally a light dimmer. You might also use plexi-glass, but make sure it is not scratched.

The most difficult part of this effect is to find a sufficiently large glass. As soon as you have the glass, you have to come up with the perfect place to set up the effect. This preparation might include certain planning or even some construction. As Pepper’s Ghost is mainly dependent on location, you should first establish where the effect will be set up and plan all the rest based on that.

You will have to arrange a non-reflective black backdrop behind the actor. The lighting in this region – the lighting behind the glass as well – has to be attuned in order for the reflection and any props in the scene behind Pepper’s Ghost to be clearly visible. This is exactly where light dimmers could step in.

You can come up with numerous props the Pepper’s Ghost can interact with, as for instance you can make the ghost to look like he is sitting in a chair in the scene, by having the actor sit on a black chair and by also placing a similar chair where the ghost seems to be sitting.
