Making a Dead Prom Queen Costume without Jamie Lee Curtis this Halloween
Jamie Lee Curtis the star of Prom Night, Halloween and others horror movies is just one of the many simple and easy Halloween costume you can be this Oct. 31st.
The best thing about this costume is that it is simple to put it together; a homemade costume. You’ll need formalwear, a couple of accessories and some gore.
First, you have to decide how you died and create your costume around it. If you are looking for blood, be the victim of a cruel crime. We all love a good tragedy on Halloween, so don’t turn your costume into an exception. Maybe it was the revenge of a lover, or just being at the wrong place at the wrong time.
The wounds will depend on the weapon of your choice. Your Halloween costume will be a lot more interesting if it is accompanied by a story. Of course, you might go without the gore and be simply pale and visually perfect dead prom queen, but you may possibly not win the prizes in a costume contest.
Prom Dress
You’ll need a formal prom night dress. Any dress is good as it is going to get dirty. For best results, select one that fits well, as you are dressing as a (dead) prom queen. In the same time, the shoes have to be formal and comfortable, as the dress.
Accessories
- Sash: make your own, or just buy one online;
- Tiara: you should find one at any local store with Halloween costumes, or at My Halloween Store;
- Flowers: this is where creativity steps in. Dead flowers or black silk flowers are suitable for a dead prom queen.
For glamor, add some costume jewelry. A genuine prom queen would not be caught dead in the absence of some bling. You might end up carrying some stuff, so it is a good idea to carry a small, but fancy handbag.
Hair
Your hair should be in the style of a prom queen, but also messy as an evidence of a violent struggle or your way out from the grave. Even better, add some smaller sticks and leaves to your curls for the genuine dead prom queen appearance.
Makeup
A makeup kit will be helpful to have a dramatic and lifeless look. Lips can be covered with black lipstick. Wounds should be placed on exposed areas (neck, face, arms, and hands) with ample fake blood to go with them. Also paint your fingernails and toenails black for a more genuine dead promo queen look.
In the end, you’ll need a date for the dance. Just remember “It’s not who you go with honey, it’s who takes you home.”
